Nihar on the Ganges
Nihar on the Ganges is the only heritage accommodation by the holy river Ganga at Kolkata recognised by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. It is a property of more than 170 years old. The property was built by Raja Radhakanta Deb and later it was bought by a British family during British era. After Indian Independence it was bought by a Bengali family and the current owner restored it as a heritage stay. The peoperty serves, Bengali, Indian, Continental and Chinese cuisine. The rooftop Sunset Travel Cafe remains open for outsiders from 4 pm to 9 pm everyday. It has 5 bedrooms for staycation and daycation. It is also a popular wedding venue and good for MICE day activities. One can go and explore Khardah and Panihati heritage too.
